En junio
de 1984, cuatro instrumentistas de la Orquesta Filarmónica del Teatro Colón,
decidieron formar un cuarteto de cuerdas que desde su debut en noviembre del
mismo año, actuaron en los ciclos más prestigiosos de Buenos Aires.
Invitados por la Dirección Nacional de Música de la Secretaría de Cultura de la
Nación y por el Mozarteum Argentino actuó en Bolivar, Tandil, Olavarria, San
Juan, Catamarca, Salta, Jujuy, Cataratas del Iguazú, Pergamino y Tucumán..
También se presentó en Río Grande, Ushuaia, Venado Tuerto, Mendoza, Córdoba,
Rosario,La Plata, Bahía Blanca, Gral. Pico y Santa Rosa.
El
Centro de Divulgación Musical de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires le encomendó la
presentación del ciclo completo de los cuartetos Op. 76 de Haydn.
La
Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile y la Embajada Argentina,
auspiciaron su presentación en la Semana Musical de Frutillar (Chile).
En 1987
fue invitado a la Primavera Musical de Bariloche. Ese mismo año los críticos
musicales le otorgaron el premio al “Mejor Conjunto de Cámara Argentino”.
En 1989
se presentó en la ciudad de Montevideo. También fue distinguido con el diploma
al mérito de la Fundación Konex, por su aporte para la difusión de la música
clásica.
En 1990
actuó en Santiago de Chile y en Bogotá, Colombia.
En 1991
mereció nuevamente el premio al “Mejor Conjunto de Cámara Argentino”, otorgado
por los críticos musicales de Buenos Aires.
En 1993
realizó, invitado por la Embajada Argentina en Paraguay una gira de conciertos
por ciudades de dicho país y de la Provincia de Misiones.
En 1994,
en la Sala del Correo Argentino y encomendado por la Dirección de Música de la
Secretaría de Cultura de la Nación, presentó en un ciclo de 6 conciertos
denominado “200 años de cuarteto en Viena” obras de Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven,
Schubert, Brahms, Webern y la Suite Lírica de Alban Berg.
En 1995,
recibió por tercera vez, el premio al “Mejor Conjunto de Cámara Argentino” por
los críticos musicales de Buenos Aires. El
Cuarteto de Cuerdas Buenos Aires incluye en su repertorio obras de compositores
argentinos y latinoamericanos, como Juan José Castro, Roberto Caamaño, Heitor
Villalobos, Mario Davidovsky, Constantino Gaito, Alberto Ginastera, Paquito
D´Rivera,
Gabriel Senanes, etc.
En
noviembre de 1997 presentó su primer CD con el Cuarteto N° 6 de Villa Lobos y el
Cuarteto N° 8 de D. Shostakovich en la Serie del sello de Radio Clásica. En el
2001, el Cuarteto realizó la grabación del CD “Riberas” junto al clarinetista
Paquito D´Rivera, ganador del premio Latin Grammy 2005 al mejor álbum clásico.
En
Septiembre de 2002, el Cuarteto interpretó en el Teatro Colón en primera
audición en la Argentina el Concierto para Cuarteto de Cuerdas y Orquesta de
Julián Orbón, acompañado por la Orquesta Filarmónica de Buenos Aires.
In June of 1984 four instrumentalists of the Buenos Aires
Philharmonic Orchestra of the Colon Theatre formed a string quartet that from
its debut in November of that same year has performed for the most important
concert series of Argentina and South America. The Department of Music of the
National Office of Culture and the prestigious Argentine Mozarteum invited them
to undergo an extended tour of Argentina .That same year it performed the
complete cycle of the quartets Op, 76 by Haydn and the Faculty of Arts of the
University of Chile and the Argentine Embassy sponsored its participation in the
Musical Week in Frutillar, Chile.
In 1987 they were invited to perform in the Spring Music Festival
of Bariloche. That same year they were given the Music Critics Award of “Best
Chamber Ensemble of Argentina”.
In 1989 they performed in the city of Montevideo, Uruguay. They
were also awarded the “Diploma of Merit” from the Konex Foundation of Argentina
for their contribution to the promotion of classical music. In 1990 they
performed in Santiago, Chile and in Bogotá,
Colombia.
In 1991 the Music Critics of Buenos Aires again awarded them the
prize as “Best Chamber Ensemble of Argentina”
In 1993 the Argentine Embassy in Paraguay invited them to perform
a series of concerts in several cities of Paraguay as well as in the Province of
Misiones.
In 1994 they were invited by the Department of Music of the
National Office of Culture to present a series of six concerts under the title:
“200 Years of Quartets in Vienna” with works by Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven,
Schubert, Brahms and Webern including the Lyric Suite of Alban Berg.
In 1995 for the third time they received the prize for “Best
Chamber Music Ensemble of Argentina” awarded by the Music Critics of Buenos
Aires.
In November of
1997 they recorded their first CD, which featured the Quartet N° 6 by Villa-Lobos and the Quartet
N° 8 by D.
Shostakovich edited in the frame of “Special Edition Recordings” by
Radio Clásica.
In 2001 they recorded the CD “Riberas” with the clarinetist
Paquito D’Rivera; awarded with the Latin Grammy 2005 for best classical album.
In September of 2002, the Quartet presented the first performance
of the Concerto for String Quartet and Orchestra by Julian Orbon accompanied by
the Buenos Aires Philharmonic Orchestra, of the Colon Theatre. The String
Quartet of Buenos Aires includes in its repertoire works by Argentinean and
Latin American composers such as Juan José Castro, Roberto Caamaño,
Heitor Villa-Lobos, Mario Davidovsky, Constantino Gaito, Alberto Ginastera, Paquito D´Rivera,
Gabriel Senanes, etc.
